New British Landscapes is a landscape design practice established by Hannah Gardner in 2010.
We seek to create timeless landscapes. Places with an emotional depth that derives from the ideas behind their design and a strong association with the wider landscape. We combine an analytical and subtle approach to design with detailed observations and consideration of the inherent nature of a place. This, in collaboration with the wishes of our clients creates enhanced natural environments designed to be functional, uplifting and sustainable.
We aim to increase the ecological diversity of the landscapes within which we work. Local materials and locally sourced plants are used wherever possible to create gardens that will endure and thrive over time.
Our key strength is designing naturalistic schemes inspired by natural and semi natural landscapes. Hannah's experience as a horticulturalist and botanical studies give her an in-depth understanding of many inspirational plant communities. We feel that a garden should not bind its inhabitants to a narrow vision. Rather we strive to make it a place of imaginative possibility.
